Italy - Pre-digital age

Amalfi, Sorennto, Naples, Monte Cassino

This was a continuation of our trip through Croatia. We drove south from Bari to the Alberobello area which is known for it's 'Trulli' architecture - round stone structures with stone roofing. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trullo). On to Matera - a town that consisted of a massive number of cave dwellings pockmarking the hillsides. The battle sites of Monte Cassino, Sorennto were inspiring. One gem was the Amalfi Coast area on the western shore. An area of vineyards, lemon orchards, villages hugging the coastal hills and winding narrow roads. Naples - take a pass.
